Davis Signs New DealMonday, 21st Oct 2024 17:01

Town left-back Leif Davis has signed a new contract which runs to the summer of 2028.

TWTD understands talks with the 24-year-old have been ongoing since before Christmas with his current terms up next summer, although with the club having an option for an additional year.

Davis, who joined Town from Leeds for around PS1 million plus a further PS500,000 in top-ups in the summer of 2022, has been a key man in the side which won back-to-back promotions to take the Blues back into the Premier League.

"I am really pleased to have signed a new contract," Davis said. "I have loved my time at the club so far and have improved so much during my two seasons here working with this group of players and under a manager who has done so much for me. This feels like home now and I am excited to continue the journey."

Manager Kieran McKenna added: "We are all delighted that Leif has committed his future to the club.

"Leif has made huge strides over the last two-and-a-half seasons and has developed well, both as a player and as a young man.

"He has been an important part of the successes of the last two seasons and now has the opportunity to play regularly in the Premier League for the first time in his career.

"We are excited to have the opportunity to work with him for an extended period and are confident he will continue to work hard to improve and develop in all areas."

Newcastle-born Davis, who was strongly interesting Nottingham Forest during the January transfer window, has made 97 starts and one sub appearance for the Blues, scoring five times.

Davis is strongly tipped to become Town's first full England international since Richard Wright in June 2000.

One half of Liverpool has already visited Portman Road, now it's the turn of the Blue half as Sean Dyche's Everton make the trip down south.

Around 2005, I went to see Bob Dylan play at Hammersmith Apollo. I'd wanted to see him live for over twenty years and was incredibly excited leading up to the gig. What a spectacular disappointment. He was totally uninterested, and the whole evening was flat.

The David Moyes era at the London Stadium has ended. Despite European success in the Europa Conference League and a ninth place position in the Premier League last season, it was seen as time for a fresh start in an attempt to play more progressive football.

Southampton haven't had the best start to the season. Sticking to their principals of possession-based passing football but coming unstuck to two 1-0 defeats before more comprehensive losses to Brentford and Manchester United.
