Leeds United attacker Georginio Rutter has proved numerous people wrong so far this season, including Neil Redfearn.

Speaking on BBC Radio Leeds after Leeds' 1-0 defeat at Birmingham City back in August, Redfearn blasted Rutter's work rate in his cameo off the bench.

Having missed the opening day of the season draw with Cardiff City through injury, Rutter was making his first appearance of the season at St. Andrews.

But it wasn't just his ability that Redfearn called into question, but more so his work rate, claiming he would've put in a better shift than the Frenchman that afternoon.

He said: "There's obviously something there. But the one thing that's unconditional in a professional footballer is effort. You've got to work your socks off. He's come on for 20/25 minutes. You could throw his kit back in the skip. It's not even wet. You've got to graft.

"How long does he want? He had 20 minutes there to make a name for himself. I'm 58 now, I'd have run about more."

Rutter's dribbling and passing is what has won him plaudits over the last few weeks, but especially for a flair player like him, his work rate is also exceptional.

Every week Rutter runs himself into the ground both on and off the ball, which is heavily contributing to him becoming a fan favourite at Elland Road, and long may it continue.
