Patson Daka assists in Zambia's 11 draw with DR Congo
The opening AFCON fixture leaves the Copper Bullets third in Group F
Daka plays throughout the contest and will be hoping for more minutes in Zambia's second group fixture against Tanzania on Sunday
Leicester City forward, Patson Daka, played a crucial role in Zambia's 11 draw with Democratic Republic of the Congo to open their Africa Cup of Nations campaign. He registered an assist for his team's opening goal at Stade Laurent Pokou, allowing Kings Kangwa to edge his side ahead on 23 minutes. However, it took just four minutes for DR Congo to find an equaliser through Brentford forward Yoane Wissa.
The match ended as a draw, leaving both teams with one point each in Group F. Despite a potential penalty awarded for handball and then overturned by VAR, the result leaves Zambia in third position at this early stage of the tournament.
Daka played throughout the contest and is expected to feature again when Zambia faces Tanzania next on Sunday afternoon (5pm kickoff).
