Conor Coady was seen as a pivotal signing in the summer, but a pre-season injury stopped his chance of getting into the side from the start. Since he returned, he has only started one league game under Enzo Maresca.
Leicester signed Coady from Wolves for a fee of PS7.5million, but the form of Wout Faes and Jannik Vestergaard has seen Coady's chanches to play very limited. We all know that when coming to an age of 30, game time is the most important and it must be strange, for the former England international, to see his chances so limited also moving down a division from a former life at Premier League level.
Cengiz Under is another player to recently experiencing a similar situation, being played just 9 times in the league during the 2020/21 season, coming on loan from AS Roma. Injuries and other players being preferred, did see Under experiencing a bit of nightmare loan spell, getting in the league team from start on just one occasion. He is back in Turkey this season, playing of Besiktas, after a period of Marseille. He is to date capped 51 times, scoring 16 goals.
Gokhan Inler had a grand career with clubs such as Udinese and Napoli, playing a total of 259 league games for the two Italian clubs. At the time when joining Leicester he was also the captain of Switzerland, and during his first months at Leicester, appearing at Wembley for his nation vs. England.
The form of N'Golo Kante and Danny Drinkwater, as well as having Andy King available, surprisingly led to a long way to a first team opportunity for the player that was looked up on as the player to take over from Esteban Cambiasso, but instead he was just used as a frequent sub and limited his appearances to the count of 5. Inler left after one season and joined Besikitas.
Stan Collymore became the most expensive player in English football history when he joined Liverpool from Nottingham Forest. The fee was PS8.5million back in 1995. Five years later moving to Leicester from Aston Villa on a free transfer, as the move early on looked as one taken out of a fairystory, but it ended in a few months, Collymore playing onle 11 games in which he scored 5 goals, due to a broken leg and also having little motivation to play on under Peter Taylor and instead winding down his career with moves to Bradford City and Real Oviedo, before going into retirement just a year after leaving Leicester.
There are a number of moves to Leicester that was supposed to get a totally different road than what happened, and looking up our "Guys in Disguise" as those players never hit it off at Leicester but had glorious careers at a higher level elsewhere.
Hopefully Conor Coady will not end up in the list, but at this time he looks very much a type in this category, with a certain Jannik Vestergaard also a clear candidate in front of this season, but looks to have moved out of the list with a grand presence so far this season.
You will find some fantastic footballers on this list, with a certain Harry Kane also getting a place as his short stay at Leicester never ever gave an impression of the potential of this player, despite being a full transfer target for Nigel Pearson, but as we all know being declined by Spurs as his future became fantastic.
