Highlights

Liverpool missed out on signing Moises Caicedo last summer, but they have found success with Curtis Jones in their midfield.

Jurgen Klopp's decision to stick with an academy project has paid off, as Jones is enjoying a careerbest season and proving his worth.

Despite being unfairly doubted by many, Jones' impressive stats show that he is excelling in his defined role in Klopp's midfield.

Liverpool narrowly missed out on the signature of Moises Caicedo last summer. However, they have found success with another player from their own ranks Curtis Jones. The 22yearold midfielder has been putting up impressive numbers this season, scoring four goals and providing three assists in 21 appearances. He is now ranked among the top two per cent of midfielders for pass completion at 91.2 percent and also excels in progressive carries and successful takeons.

Jones' tackling numbers are better than highlyrated players like Bruno Guimaraes, closing the gap between him and other highprofile players such as Enzo Fernandez who was previously linked with Liverpool before joining Benfica. With Jurgen Klopp using him as an ideal successor to Gini Wijnaldum without needing a bigmoney signing, it seems that Liverpool's decision to prioritize academy talent over expensive transfers has paid off.

This approach not only saved them significant funds but also brought clarity to their midfield situation while bringing back hope for silverware on the red horizon.
