Liverpool interested in signing Brazilian international and Aston Villa star, Douglas Luiz
Reds have moved in the race to finally sign the midfielder, with competition from Arsenal and Barcelona
It would take a fee of at least PS70m to lure him away from Aston Villa
Liverpool has long been eyeing Brazilian international and Aston Villa star, Douglas Luiz. The Reds held internal talks last summer to acquire his services, and now reports indicate that they have moved in the race to finally sign the midfielder. Football Insider has mentioned that Liverpool are plotting a move to beat long term admirers Arsenal as well as Spanish champions Barcelona for Luiz's signature.
Douglas Luiz is known for his versatility on the field, proving himself as both a solid defensive midfielder (DM) and creative central midfielder (CM) under Unai Emery's guidance at Aston Villa. Last season alone he netted six goals and provided six assists in the Premier League. His top form this current campaign is one of main reasons why Aston Villa sits third in the Premier League table.
The 25yearold's current contract will expire in 2026, but it would take a hefty fee of at least PS70m to lure him away from his current club according Dean Jones. With such high demand for his talents on display week after week could be worth every penny should Liverpool offer PS70m?
