While Liverpool's first team stars proved themselves against Brentford on Saturday, there was another young Liverpool player who proved himself in League One. The Reds sent out several players on loan during the January transfer window.

Among them were the likes of Fabio Carvalho, Owen Beck and Luke Chambers. All of them have since done very well in their new temporary homes.

But the standout performances have undoubtedly come from the latter of the trio. Chambers has gone out on loan at Wigan Athletic, where he has slotted straight into the starting eleven and has already proved himself in two different positions.

At the same time, he's also not just a starter for Wigan, but he's been one of the club's best players since he arrived. His performance against Shrewsbury was another example of that.

The opponents for Wigan yesterday were Shrewsbury, and Chambers played a key role in his club's 1-0 victory. Not only did he help to keep Wigan a clean-sheet, he also completed the most passes (46) on the pitch and won the most tackles (3) as per Fotmob. The latter area, Chambers, has been the best on the pitch for Wigan in most of the games he has featured in. In total, he has won the most tackles on the pitch in five of his eight games for the club so far. That's a really impressive return from the young man, who was described after his debut for Wigan, by the club boss Shaun Maloney as 'incredible.'

This season we have seen both Conor Bradley and Jarell Quansah come into this Liverpool side after catching the eye in League One the season prior. Chambers is definitely on the right track to follow in their footsteps based on his performances for Wigan so far.
