Report: Liverpool are now looking to appoint man who was voted Sporting Director of the Year in 2022

All the focus at the moment is on who Liverpool will appoint as the club's next manager. However, perhaps an even bigger question should be about who Liverpool will appoint as the club's next sporting director.

In the last few years, Liverpool's sporting director role has seen a lot of changing faces. In two years alone, three different sporting directors have left the role at Anfield. Michael Edwards departed in 2022, Julian Ward left last year, and Jorg Schmadtke's time at the club came to an end earlier this year.

Along with it has come a bit of uncertainty. For so many years prior to Edwards' departure there seemed to be a clear strategy at Liverpool. But in the last two years, that strategy seems to have shifted and changed time and time again.

That's why it's essential that Liverpool resolve the sporting director question as soon as possible. Perhaps even before they resolve who will replace Jurgen Klopp at the helm.

Massara has a decent track record. During his time at AC Milan, he recruited the likes of Rafael Leao, Fikayo Tomori and Mike Maignan among many others.

Before working at Milan, Massara also worked at AS Roma, where he played a role in the recruitment of the likes of Mohamed Salah and Alisson Becker.

In 2022, he was also voted Sporting Director of the Year at the Globe Soccer awards alongside Paolo Maldini.

Overall, he has a solid track record, and he is available right away. Those two things will be a bonus for Liverpool. Massara is definitely someone worth keeping an eye on.
