Report: £45m Liverpool player is now going to miss Carabao Cup final vs Chelsea

Liverpool have been dealt another major injury blow heading into their Carabao Cup final against Chelsea this Sunday.

Jurgen Klopp was already without Trent Alexander-Arnold and Alisson. And now, according to The Telegraph, Diogo Jota will miss the trip to Wembley.

Jota, who Liverpool signed from Wolverhampton Wanderers in a PS45m deal (Sky Sports), had to be stretchered off in the Reds' 4-1 win against Brentford over the weekend.

It is a huge blow for Liverpool, but Chelsea head into the Carabao Cup final with their own injury problems.

Central defender Benoit Badiashile is one player who will not be available for the Blues, for example.

Dominik Szoboszlai is also a doubt because of a hamstring issue. His absence would be really bad news for the Reds, with the midfielder having already scored against Chelsea this season.

As for the Blues, Romeo Lavia is still out injured and Reece James is a long-term absentee after undergoing hamstring surgery.

While Chelsea will be without their captain, their squad looks to be in much better shape than Liverpool's right now. With the likes of Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk still available for Klopp, though, it is still going to be a difficult game for Mauricio Pochettino's men.

But hopefully they can get the win. Because of their performance in the Premier League, it has been a really disappointing season. However, getting their hands on a trophy in February would really change the complexion of things.

It would probably get Pochettino into next season as well. With his side sitting 10th in the table, the Argentine is under pressure, though he has managed to alleviate some of it recently with positive results against Manchester City, Crystal Palace and Aston Villa.
