We were promised a caravan. We got Birmingham City.

International break is over. The Premier League and Championship are back after that fortnight off. For Brentford, and I'm still smarting over what happened at Old Trafford against Manchester United, a visit from Burnley. We'll get to that tomorrow but, for now, our regular Thursday look at the broader world of football. There's been the EURO 24 qualifiers and, closer to home, Wayne Rooney and Birmingham City have come together.

Years ago we believed 'future Wayne' would be in a caravan. Instead, he is at Birmingham City. The Bees and Birmingham City have crossed paths over the years. I've always taken a keener than could be expected interest in all things Blues related (for long since documented reasons) but this story transcends even that. Wayne isn't the first great player to throw his hat into the managerial ring and he won't be the last.

In today's piece, which you can find here, we take a look at some of those who have gone before. Care - it isn't pretty....
