Business is picking up in Denton, Texas, with the North Texas Mean Green giving a ranked Tulane squad quite the challenge on the road last week. The team is starting to come together under first-year coach Eric Morris and it's leading to individual standouts getting recognized on a major stage.

Top Mean Green wide receiver Ja'Mori Maclin was added to the Biletnikoff Award Watch List, the Tallahassee Quarterback Club Foundation announced Wednesday. The Biletnikoff Award recognizes the most outstanding receiver in college football, regardless of position.

Maclin has exploded onto the scene in his sophomore season with North Texas. His 33 receptions for 658 yards and nine touchdowns leads the team.

Those totals have Maclin tied for fourth in the country in receiving touchdowns and 15th in total receiving yards. Maclin also leads the American Athletic Conference in receiving yards and touchdowns, as well as his mark of 19.9 yards per catch.

Maclin has scored at least once in every game this season and has become a go-to in crucial moments for quarterback Chandler Rogers.

In his first full season with North Texas, Maclin was a CUSA All-Freshman team selection, playing in all 14 games and making 16 catches for 380 yards and two scores. Maclin joined the Mean Green in 2022 after two years at Missouri, where he played very limited snaps, dealing with injuries.

Before college, Maclin was rated the No. 10 prospect in Missouri for his class by 247Sports. He is also the cousin of former eight-year veteran NFL wide receiver Jeremy Maclin.

If Maclin were to win the award, he would be the first Group of Five receiver to earn the honor since Randy Moss earned the trophy in 1997 out of Marshall and the first to win out of a Texas school since Baylor's Corey Coleman in 2015.

The semifinalists for the award will be announced Nov. 20 before being cut down to three finalists Nov. 28.
