Robbie Fowler has suggested that Unai Emery could one day replace Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool after his success with Aston Villa.

Speaking to the Mirror, the Anfield legend claimed that the former Arsenal manager has what it takes to potentially succeed Klopp at Liverpool should the German ever leave Merseyside.

Fowler said: "The biggest compliment I can pay Unai Emery is that I think he is one of the few managers who would be up to the challenge of replacing Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool."

With the Birmingham-based side now fighting for top-four, Emery's success at Villa has been notable for all to see, and a move to Liverpool could be on the cards.

However, we have all seen where Villa's current success is heading, and Liverpool know that they can do better than Emery when the day comes that they need to replace Klopp.

Emery might be on Cloud Nine with Villa, but as Arsenal fans know well enough, the collapse will be here shortly, and Liverpool can't afford to hire a manager with such an error in their locker.

With Klopp not set to leave Anfield for some years, there's a good chance that the German manager could outlive Emery at Villa without even leaving Liverpool.

The idea of hiring the Spaniard might make sense to pundits like Fowler, but many Liverpool fans would want a more reliable name than Emery, who seems perfect for Villa, either way.
