Liverpool is yet to resolve the futures of Trent Alexander-Arnold, Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah but is set to offer another player a new long-term deal.

The Reds have started the season in remarkable fashion with nine wins from ten games in all competitions and just yesterday maintained their place at the top of the Premier League with a 1-0 victory over Crystal Palace. Despite signing just one outfield player during the summer transfer window, it is the mainstays who have really impressed.

While the likes of Alexander-Arnold, Van Dijk and Salah have all stepped up to the plate, players such as Ibrahima Konate, Ryan Gravenberch, Diogo Jota and Luis Diaz have also shone, whether it's keeping clean sheets, adapting to new positions of scoring lots of goals.

But it is the former who has caught the eye, in particular, having filled in expertly alongside Van Dijk at center-back ever since replacing Jarrell Quansah at half-time of the opening weekend victory over Ipswich. The Frenchman has helped to keep five clean sheets in the following nine games and even scored twice in the victories over AC Milan and Wolves.

Now, according to Rousing The Kop, Liverpool is set to reward Konate for his efforts so far this season with a new long-term contract to take him past the end of the 2025-26 campaign, when his current deal is set to expire.

It's added that a new contract is "very much on the agenda" for the 25-year-old and will be dealt with "as a matter of course" as the Reds look to avoid a repeat of their recent contract disasters, with negotiations likely to advance during the early part of 2025.

Since signing from the German outfit in the summer of 2021, Konate has made 99 appearances across all competitions for Liverpool and played his part in the FA Cup and Carabao Cup successes in the 2021-22 and 2023-24 campaigns, respectively.

However, despite his ability to slot in when required and impressive physical ability, Konate has received his fair share of criticism for some unconvincing performances, particularly towards the end of last season as he eventually lost his place to youngster Quansah.

But since replacing the 21-year-old at the start of this season, having watched the England Under-21 international emerge as Slot's favored center-back partner for Van Dijk during pre-season, Konate has come on leaps and bounds and impressed club staff with his hard work and turnaround.
