The second of three international breaks in this early part of the season is upon us but it's not all doom and gloom for Arne Slot and Liverpool.
The Reds may have gotten off to the perfect start this season with nine wins in 10 games across all competitions but now is the time for another two-week layoff as players prepare to jet off around the world to represent their countries, leaving fans already counting down the days before their favorite players are back in domestic action once more.
For Liverpool, the international break comes at an inconvenient time following six successive wins in three competitions, putting a stop to any consistency built up by the players. However, there are still reasons to be positive heading into the next fortnight.
Here, Liverpool.com picks out four things Slot can be content with ahead of the October international break, despite having to wave goodbye to the majority of his players over the next 10 days or so.
Nunez looking sharp again Darwin Nunez had to wait until Liverpool's sixth game of the season to make his first start of the new campaign but things couldn't have gone better for the Uruguayan after netting in that 3-0 victory over Bournemouth on September 21.
The Reds striker has since made two further starts against West Ham in the Carabao Cup and Bologna in the Champions League, providing an assist in the former, and appears to be getting sharper with each match. You'd think an international break would come at a bad time for the 25-year-old, but in fact, it's a good thing.
That's because Nunez is serving the final two fixtures of his five-game ban for Uruguay following his antics at the Copa America, meaning he will remain on Merseyside over the next fortnight and avoid traveling thousands of miles in between Premier League matches.
It marked Jones' second start of the season after featuring from the off against West Ham in the Carabao Cup last month, meaning he is virtually back to full match fitness and is ready to kick on over the international break, where he will hope to retain his place on Liverpool's return to action later this month.
The 23-year-old's availability also boosts Slot's options in midfield and like Nunez, his lack of international action can only be a good thing for the Dutchman. By remaining on Merseyside, Jones increases his chances of avoiding further injuries and will be well-rested by the time the other players return.
The former Fulham star was pictured wearing a protective boot towards the end of last month and it's been previously reported that he will be out until the end of October, suggesting a return could be on the cards once the international break is over.
If so, it would be a major boost for Slot ahead of Liverpool's hectic run of fixtures on the club's return to action, providing him with another option in midfield and taking the pressure off some of the other stars to perform in consecutive matches.
Liverpool's No.1 will now look to get back to full fitness as soon as possible and the two-week break provides a major chance to do so, although Slot has already confirmed that he doesn't expect the 32-year-old to be available for the first game back against Chelsea on October 20.
With such a congested fixture schedule, it increases the amount of games Alisson can miss, although at least that will be reduced given there are none for the next two weeks. Slot can only hope that the Brazilian shot-stopper makes good progress over the next fortnight.
