Liverpool remained at the top of the Premier League table following a 2-1 win over Chelsea at Anfield on Sunday.

Arne Slot's men came into the game with six wins in seven, but there were still question marks over their title credentials due to the relatively easy nature of their early fixtures.

Liverpool had all to prove they belonged in the title conversation with Manchester City and Arsenal, who were beaten 2-0 at Bournemouth over the weekend.

The Liverpool players gave a good account of themselves and won a closely fought match against Chelsea at home to prove they deserve to be at the top of the Premier League table at this stage of the season.

It was fun for me because we won - Liverpool manager Slot conceded that Chelsea gave them a tough fight and it was a fun game to watch for anyone even if they were not a Blues or Liverpool fan.

He stressed that it was fun for him to watch as well but conceded that a lot was going on in the game in what turned out to be a close encounter.

The Liverpool manager insisted that despite the quality of the game, he would not have been pleased if they missed out on all three points at the end.

"It was an intense fight", Slot told Viaplay (via Voetbal International)

"I think it was especially fun for the neutral spectator.

"For me too in the end, because we won.

"But a lot happened in the match. And if we hadn't won, I wouldn't have been standing here with a smile."

Liverpool will now prepare for a trip to Germany for a Champions League game against RB Leipzig on Wednesday night before taking on Arsenal at the Emirates on Sunday.
