Liverpool manager Arne Slot continued his dream start to life at Anfield with a narrow 2-1 win over Chelsea.

Mohamed Salah and Curtis Jones scored the all-important Liverpool goals, with Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson also on target.

Liverpool are one point ahead of Man City after the victory at Anfield, with Slot having lost just one of his eight Premier League matches in charge.

Virgil van Dijk heaped praise on Chelsea ahead of the match, and Enzo Maresca's side certainly troubled the hosts.

But Liverpool ultimately got the job done in front of their adoring fans, with Slot expertly seeing out the 2-1 win from the dugout.

The Egyptian's efforts this season have really pleased his manager, with Slot saying in his post-match press conference: "The good thing is that normally if someone asks a question about Mo Salah it's always about his contract, so now it's nice that you just asked me how important he is!

"He is important for us for the numbers he has... it was a bit of a funny remark after the game, I said to Trent [Alexander-Arnold] you have some competition now because I saw today that Mo can play as a right full-back as well!

"The defensive effort he put in today to help the team in that part is what pleased me just as much as his goal and assist."

Mohamed Salah and Curits Jones impress under Arne Slot Salah and Jones took turns setting each other up against the Blues, with the latter winning the penalty that the former fired home.

The winger then turned provider for the midfielder, guiding a superb delivery into the box for Jones to finish.

Slot will be absolutely delighted with the performances of the Anfield duo, which played a key role in helping the manager overcome another tough obstacle.

The tricky tests will, however, keep coming thick and fast, with a Champions League trip to RB Leipzig up this week.

Fellow Premier League title challengers Arsenal then welcome Liverpool to North London before the Reds take on Brighton in League Cup action.
