Arne Slot has revealed the secret behind never losing two league games in a row in his managerial career.

The Dutchman has a stellar record of consistently bouncing back from setbacks, shown across his time at AZ Alkmaar, Feyenoord and now Liverpool, where he has suffered just one defeat to Nottingham Forest.

After that loss at Anfield, the Reds have won every game - and Slot has now revealed his methods for getting over bad days quickly while speaking in a candid interview with the Men In Blazers YouTube page.

'The secret is not very difficult - I was very lucky I could start my career with a club at AZ Alkmaar then go to Feyenoord and then Liverpool,' he said.

'If I was at a lower-league table team I might have lost a few more in a row! But it is also about getting your habits right around work-rate. It depends on the teams you face and the schedule you have.'

He has shown players clips of Guardiola's great Barcelona, Bayern Munich and Manchester City sides and told them those are the standards they must strive towards.

He added: 'I showed my players in recent years clips of Manchester City and Pep Guardiola but I also showed them Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool.

'This mostly had to do with how intense these two teams pressed, the workrate these top professionals had.

'As managers, we are all the same - you try to steal ideas from different managers. So many good managers are out there.

'Pep is not only a difficult task for us to face but he is also leading a team with a lot of quality. The good thing for us is that we also have a lot of quality.'

He believes 'habits around work-rate' are crucial to bouncing back from bad results

'I didn't see it live because we were having our last game at Feyenoord and I was at a party. But then text messages started coming in showing me what he did. Jurgen is so popular among the fans and the staff here.

'That is because of how successful he was but definitely also because of the person he was. To do this for your successor has not been done before... it might happen again in the future now. I need to ask him if he came up with it at that moment or whether he came up with it in the weeks before, it is quite creative!'
