Mohamed Salah's status on Liverpool's Mount Rushmore is already secured, but his legendary standing at Anfield will be enhanced if he decides to renew his contract.
Liverpool find themselves in the uncomfortable position of losing three club icons in one summer, with Salah, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Virgil van Djik's contracts all expiring next summer.
Salah has scored 164 Premier League goals - more than any other Liverpool player - with the latest coming from a rasping strike against Brighton last weekend.
Player Goals Matches Alan Shearer 260 441 Harry Kane 213 320 Andrew Cole 187 414 Sergio Aguero 184 275 Frank Lampard 177 609 Thierry Henry 175 258 Mohamed Salah 164 273 Robbie Fowler 163 379 Jermaine Defoe 162 496 Last night in the Champions League, he lent the limelight to teammate Luis Diaz, who scored three in the 4-0 humbling of Xabi Alonso's Bayer Leverkusen.
In under two months, the Egyptian will be able to negotiate and strike a pre-contract deal, with Barcelona among the teams hoping to sign Salah for free.
Salah earns PS350,000 per week and the stand-off between himself and Liverpool owners Fenway Sports Group (FSG) suggests that his demands are still high despite the fact he turns 33 in June.
The Saudi Pro League, where those wages are de rigueur, has also been mooted as a possible destination, with Al-Hilal believed to be extremely interested in signing Salah.
But even the sums earned by the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Neymar and Karim Benzema in Saudi Arabia are dwarfed by another prize on offer to Salah - according to the latest research, at least.
Salah knows how to create a splash on social media.
After his winner against Brighton last Saturday, he sent the following message that some have interpreted as a signal that he could be set to leave Anfield.
"Top of the table is where this club belongs. Nothing less. All teams win matches but there's only 1 champion in the end. That's what we want.
"Thank you for your support last night. No matter what happens, I will never forget what scoring at Anfield feels like."
But while that message went out on Instagram, X and Facebook, the latest research from digital PR firm FatJoe suggests that YouTube is where Salah could really rake it in.
According to their research, Salah has the sixth highest revenue earning potential on YouTube of any active or retired footballer.
The forward could bank a staggering PS239m per year from the platform, which has recently seen the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and Jude Bellingham flock to join the gravy train.
Player Revenue range ($) David Beckham 171,926.07 - 429,815.16 Ronaldinho 148,928.50 - 372,321.25 Marceloa 131,798.80 - 329,496.99 Zlatan Ibrahimovic 125,156.21 - 312,890.51 Sergio Ramos 124,870.42 - 312,176.04 Mohamed Salah 122,834.59 - 307,086.47 (PS95.2k -PS238k) Paul Pogba 119,852.06 - 299,630.16 Paulo Dybala 112,685.87 - 281,714.66 Gareth Bale 14,907.21 - 37,268.02 James Rodriguez 14,860.11 - 37,150.28 The figures are based squarely on views and are calculate against publicly available revenue data. They don't include the potential for brand deals, which would be worth more by an order of magnitude.
"Right now, there are some big names in the game who have transitioned to YouTube who are giving us a good idea of how much footballers might stand to make on platforms like YouTube and Instagram," said marketing expert Joe Davies.
"Although their revenue figures aren't public, based on their subscription and engagement stats, we can estimate earnings between $700k and $1.7 million for the highest tier personalities like Cristiano Ronaldo from YouTube views alone, which if we add the potential for brand deals and sponsorships these figures could easily triple in yearly revenue"
Can FSG afford to renew Mohamed Salah's contract? In short, yes, a new contract, even one with a sizable step up in pay, is well within FSG's capabilities.
Liverpool now have around PS900m guaranteed from Adidas over the next decade too, which gives them more than enough security.
Incidentally, Salah is an Adidas athlete and, after five years of Nike, would provide ample marketing opportunities that extend his value well beyond his remarkable contributions on the pitch.
The length of the contract is presumable what FSG are pondering, although the consensus among fans and pundits is that Salah is showing no signs of slowing down despite his age.
