Liverpool can seal January signing “if they pay release clause” says manager

With Liverpool and other clubs being heavily linked to Goncalo Inacio recently, those rumours were now mentioned in Sporting's press conference.

Manager Ruben Amorim was asked about the defender's future, with journalists wanting to know whether there's a chance the Lions could lose the player in the middle of the season.

Quoted by newspaper O Jogo, the coach claimed that Inacio is only leaving Sporting in case his EUR60m clause is triggered, as the club will not negotiate his exit.

"If they pay the release clause, he has to go, if they don't, nobody will leave," said Ruben Amorim.

O Jogo's story names Liverpool, Real Madrid and Manchester United as the clubs who are most interested in signing Inacio in the near future.

It's been reported that, next weekend, the Anfield side will have scouts watching the defender in action against Benfica in the Lisbon derby. Local newspapers had already been claiming that it'll take EUR60m to sign Inacio next year, so it's interesting to see the manager confirming that now.

With big clubs interested, we shall see whether it's Liverpool or someone else who turns up with the money.
