Hull City boss Liam Rosenior shoots up manager table after latest Championship sacking

Matt Taylor's sacking by Rotherham United on Monday morning was the seventh manager to lose their job in the Championship already this season after just 16 games.

Saturday's 5-0 thrashing at Watford proved the final straw for Millers chairman Tony Stewart who has opted to make a change with his side four points adrift of safety and marooned in the bottom three.

Taylor's sacking is a far cry from current events at Hull City where boss Liam Rosenior is on the cusp of signing a new contract until summer 2027, but also shows just how fragile the career of a manager can be.

Since we last published the list of managerial tenures in the Championship less than a month ago, Nigel Pearson, Taylor and Gareth Ainsworth have all lost their jobs with Mark Robins the only boss to have lasted more than two years in his post - 14 have now gone since the end of last season and that will surely only rise as we head towards January.

Rosenior has now taken charge of the equivalent of a full league season since being appointed in early November last year, and in those 46 games, he's averaging 1.36 points per game with his latest victory coming over Huddersfield Town on Saturday.

Here's the Championship's managerial length of service as of November 14, 2023
