So far the Sky Blues have taken sixteen points from a possible 48 in a run of games that, more recently, has seen a six-match winless sequence of results including four straight defeats. But within those results have been some promising signs and encouraging individual performances from both established City stars and some of the 11 summer signings currently settling into the side after a major squad rebuild following the departure of 14 seniors.

Saturday's point against Stoke "stopped the rot," according to the City manager, with a clean sheet and plenty of chances created, albeit no goals, to provide a platform on which to build after the international break, after which City travel to Millwall before entertaining Plymouth at home to round off the month of November.

Here CoventryLive's Sky Blues reporter Andy Turner rates the players going on their start to the new season.

Ben WilsonCoventry City's first choice goalkeeper Ben Wilson has come under the spotline in recent matchesLast season's standout goalkeeper in the division made a steady and reasonably confident start to the new campaign, helping the team keep two clean sheets out of the first five games. He's made some important saves, not least a double stop to deny Sunderland and at brilliant dive at QPR. But he's made the odd mistake, including his positioning and communication with Bobby Thomas for Watford's third in the 3-3 CBS Arena draw and, more recently, a couple of handling errors, one of which led to West Brom's opening goal. As a result he was dropped for the first time against Stoke, bringing an end to a 61-game league run in the side. 61 of 20Brad CollinsBrad Collins after keeping a clean sheet on his league debut for Coventry CityThe summer signing from Barnsley was handed his first Championship start for the Sky Blues against Stoke and, although not really tested to any degree, kept a clean sheet. His handling, positioning and kicking was decent and he looks to have a run in the side ahead of him after replacing Ben Wilson. It's early days, but he's made a promising start. 5.52 of 20Bobby ThomasCoventry City's Bobby Thomas is one of five centre-backs competing in the back threeThe centre-half made a good first impression, slotting in comfortably on the right of the back three where he defended well and brought the ball out of defence confidently and consistently to help get City up the pitch and on the attack. He's been a good physical presence and only really had one game when he's dipped below the required standard, against Watford, when he under hit a back pass to his goalkeeper that resulted in a goal. He was taken out of the side for a couple of games as a result but is back in and pretty much a regular starter. 6.53 of 20Kyle McFadzeanKyle McFadzean of Coventry City celebrates scoring their first goalCity's stalwart centre-back has had a lot on his plate with his mum's illness and recent loss going on in the background, but he continued to play on and be the glue that helds the back three together. He scored on the opening day at Leicester and has put his body on the line, throwing himself into blocks and headers in a man-of-the-match display to help keep a hard-fought clean sheet against Sunderland. His absence on compassionate leave saw City switch to a back four and we wait to see how the team will set up on his return. 6.54 of 20 Top Stories
