Former Scotland international Frank McAvennie has urged Leeds to accept a PS50 million bid from Liverpool for Archie Gray.

The Daily Mail reported on 10 November that Liverpool are prepping a PS50m bid to sign the versatile midfielder.

He can play as a defensive midfielder as well as a box to box midfielder or at right back. This versatility obviously appeals to Jurgen Klopp as it would give him the opportunity to rotate with increased ease.

Speaking to Football Insider, McAvennie has urged Leeds to accept a 50 million bid from Liverpool but only if they keep him on loan initially.

"I think what they've (Leeds) got to do is sell him (Gray)," said McAvennie.

"Take the money, but keep him on loan. He's not going to get into the Liverpool team, he's not going to get into the Everton team at the moment.

"I don't think anyone is going to buy him in January. I wouldn't imagine if he's doing that well unless you spend decent money.

"If he's not ready for the Premier League, whoever's wanting him, come and get him now and loan him back.

"That's what I would try and do because then you get some money for January. It's a win-win for them. Farke will know what he needs."

Liverpool already have a talented 19-year-old that can play as a defensive midfielder in Stefan Bajcetic but you can never have too many young stars coming through the ranks.
