Trent Alexander-Arnold was again given the nod in midfield by Gareth Southgate last night in England's 1-1 draw against North Macedonia.

The Liverpool star is carving quite the role for himself with the Three Lions, with Alexander-Arnold himself admitting that he wants to one day play in the midfield.

And Southgate has been pleased with what he has seen from the 25-year-old this international break, with the England manager lauding Alexander-Arnold after his latest England display.

And no one was seemingly more impressed in Skopje that the Three Lions manager, who post-match was quick to praise Alexander-Arnold for his latest outing in midfield.

Southgate said: "There's plenty of players to keep a track on because in this batch of games Trent again has done an excellent job in midfield and used the ball really well."

Alexander-Arnold in midfield is an idea that's been passed around for some time, with the Liverpool fullback clearly good enough to operate in the role.

Indeed, the Three Lions are already one of the pre-tournament favourites for the competition, and Alexander-Arnold in midfield with Rice and a fully fit Jude Bellingham could be something special.

With Southgate clearly impressed with what he's seen from Alexander-Arnold, a central role could be where the defender now finds himself in the England set-up, though few will be complaining about that.
