Chris Sutton has now predicted who will get relegated after Everton were docked further points by the Premier League.

The Toffees saw two further points taken from their total on Monday. In total, Everton have now been docked eight points during the 2023/24 season.

Sean Dyche's side now sit 16th in the league standings, two points ahead of Luton Town, who occupy 18th spot. The two sides meet at Kenilworth Road before the end of the season.

Talking on the It's All Kicking Off Podcast, Chris Sutton has cast his thoughts on how the current relegation battle might play out.

Despite their impressive season to date, Sutton believes that Luton Town will follow Burnley and Sheffield United back into the Championship next season.

"I am looking at Nottingham Forest, which has Sheffield United, Burnley, and Everton. Wolves and Chelsea at home," he said.

"That's probably more likely to get more points than Luton Town, who have City away, Brentford away, Wolves away, Everton at home and West Ham away. I am saying Forest [stay up] [Luton, Burnley, Sheffield United go down]."

How difficult are Everton's remaining fixtures in the Premier League? Everton should have enough about them to avoid a nervy end to the season. But the fixtures against Nottingham Forest and Luton Town will undoubtedly be high-octane affairs.

Failure to win either match could see Dyche's men needing points against Arsenal on the season's final day, a scenario that must be avoided.

On paper, Everton's run-in is pretty kind. Per a clever piece of research from Soccer stats, the average points per game of Everton's upcoming opponents is 1.26.

Brentford have the most straightforward run in, with their opponents averaging just 0.91 PPG. Luton Town's is slightly higher [1.35], and Crystal Palace, statistically, have the hardest run of any of the bottom six, with their opponents averaging 1.62.
