Manchester City are preparing for their return to Champions League action tonight against Real Madrid.

City go into the second leg at the Etihad Stadium with the tie 3-3 after the reverse fixture in Spain last week. Victory in any form would see Pep Guardiola's side progress to the semi-final of the Champions League for the fourth consecutive season.

Guardiola opted to rest a number of his star players for the 5-1 victory over Luton Town in the Premier League at the weekend. Phil Foden, John Stones and Rodri did not feature in the game, while Kyle Walker and Nathan Ake were both on the bench as they continued their recovery from recent injury issues.

City will still have to deal with some fitness concerns going into the second leg against Real Madrid. MEN Sport takes a look at the current injury list ahead of the Champions League quarter-final second leg.

Nathan Ake Nathan Ake has been recovering from an unspecified injury ever since the win in the Manchester derby last month.

He made his return to the matchday squad against Luton Town at the weekend but was an unused substitute. Ake could make his return from injury against Real Madrid on Wednesday night.

Potential return date: April 17 vs Real Madrid.

Rodri Rodri missed the win over Luton Town as he opted to have a rest ahead of a bus run-in.

Guardiola confirmed that the midfielder had not suffered an injury and was merely not selected to maintain his fitness. Rodri is expected to make his return to the starting line-up against Real Madrid.

Potential return date: April 17 vs Real Madrid.

John Stones John Stones missed the win over Luton Town with a potential fitness issue.

Guardiola confirmed, though, that Stones had not suffered an injury and was being rested as a precaution. As a result, City will hope to have the defender back available for the clash against Real Madrid.

Potential return date: April 17 vs Real Madrid.

Kyle Walker Kyle Walker has not played for City ever since the goalless draw with Arsenal at the end of last month.

The right-back made his return to the matchday squad against Luton, where he was an unused substitute. Whether he will be available to start against Real Madrid, though, remains uncertain in the hours leading up to kick-off.

Potential return date: April 17 vs Real Madrid.

Phil Foden Phil Foden was substituted during the first leg against Real Madrid with a dead leg.

As a result, Foden missed the win over Luton as he was rested ahead of the second leg, although he was an unused substitute on the bench. City will hope to have Foden back in the starting line-up for the second leg against the La Liga club.

Potential return date: April 17 vs Real Madrid.
