Rangers loanee Ianis Hagi was "visibly gutted" after missing a penalty for Alaves, according to Glasgow Live journalist Alan Galindo.

The 25-year-old missed a spot-kick in his temporary club's La Liga encounter with Almeria on Sunday (5 November).

The Gers loanee was later subbed off in the match, with his teammate Aleksandar Sedlar scoring to secure a 1-0 victory for Alaves.

"Ianis Hagi had a major moment to forget for Alaves after a golden chance to grab his first La Liga goal," Galindo wrote for Glasgow Live. "The Rangers loanee got off the mark for his temporary club midweek as they recorded a whopping TEN goal win over Deportivo Murcia on the road in the Copa Del Rey.

"He found the back of the net twice and with confidence high after his first two strikes he stepped up for penalty duty in a huge league clash at home to bottom club and winless Almeria at home.

"The Romania international stepped up and sent the goalkeeper the wrong way but his effort sailed high and wide into the supporters behind the goal with the attacking midfield player looking visibly gutted at his effort with his team-mate Luis Rioja giving him a few words in his ear to encourage him."

Crazy week

It's been quite the week for the on-loan Rangers man, who has been heavily involved for his temporary club lately. Kicking things off, Hagi grabbed an assist from the bench in his club's 2-1 La Liga defeat to Spanish giants Atletico Madrid last Sunday (29 October), as well as being shown a yellow card.

That match was followed up with a fine double against minnows Deportivo Murcia in the Copa del Rey first round on Thursday (2 November).

And the attacker then tried to maintain that scoring form from the spot against Almeria back in the league, but it wasn't meant to be as his penalty sailed wayward.

Fortunately fellow Alaves man Sedlar was on hand to secure all three points in that clash, sending the club to 14th place in the table.

Hagi perhaps now has his biggest test for his temporary club, with Alaves travelling to Xavi's Barcelona in La Liga action next Sunday (12 November).

In other Rangers news, a journalist has spotted something that could "go a long way" for one "beleaguered" Gers player.
