BBC journo shares what Man City fans chanted about Everton financial breach at Goodison
Source:Goodisonnews

Manchester City fans in the away end at Goodison Park teased Everton with a chant aimed at their breach of the Premier League's financial regulations, according to BBC journalist Shamoon Hafez.

The travelling supporters were singing "we know what you are" in the direction of the Goodison Park crowd, accusing them of cheating by breaking financial rules which led to a ten-point deduction.

The irony of their chant obviously comes from the fact that City are currently being investigated for 115 breaches of Profit and Sustainability rules, but are yet to be punished for their alleged rule breaks.

"Manchester City fans chanting, 'We know what you are' with accusations of 'cheating' towards the Everton supporters," shared Hafez via the BBC Sport Live Blog [27 December, 20:24].

Everton fans won't be laughing

It's all fun and games from the fans, a tongue-in-cheek jab at the situation Everton have found themselves in with the City fans aware they may well suffer the same fate, if not worse, in due course when the investigation into their situation is concluded.

Everton fans won't be laughing, though. The frustrations around the punishment they were given, which both the fans and the club view as extremely harsh, have been loudly voiced at Goodison Park since the decision was made, with an appeal ongoing with the Premier League.

If one rule breach landed the Toffees a ten-point deduction, just imagine what would be delivered to City for their 115. City fans certainly won't be laughing either. Perhaps they should be on the side of the Everton fans when it comes to this particular issue.

If City are subject to the same harshness as Everton have been - and the Blues will demand they should be - just imagine the situation they will find themselves in with an extra-heavy points deduction handed out.
