PSG have now beaten Manchester City to the signing of Lucas Beraldo from Sao Paulo.

That is according to Fabrizio Romano.

So, what is - or was - the situation involving Lucas Beraldo and Manchester City? Let's take a look...

PSG sign Beraldo Well, according to Alexsander Vieira - a journalist for Bolavip - Manchester City recently enquired about the Brazilian wonderkid and opened talks with Sao Paulo.

However, alarm bells rang when Romano claimed just before Christmas that negotiations between PSG and Sao Paulo were "progressing fast" - and a deal is now said to be finalised.

The reliable Italian journalist posted on Boxing Day that the agreement is "done" with PSG also signing Gabriel Moscardo from Corinthians.

Romano then revealed earlier on Thursday that Beraldo will fly into Paris for his medical, putting the finishing touches on his EUR20m (PS17m) move to the Parc des Princes.

The 20-year-old made 52 appearances for Sao Paulo, scoring one goal.

Manchester City still managed to sign a South American wonderkid While it would have been nice to have Beraldo - a highly promising defender - join the likes of Josko Gvardiol at the Etihad Stadium, Manchester City have still managed to sign a top South American prospect.

A report by Ed Aarons of the Guardian claimed that a PS22m deal had been agreed with River Plate over the signing of Argentina U17 international Claudio Echeverri, with Romano since reporting that news himself.

Manchester City should also officially announce the arrival of Finlay Gorman - another top talent - when the January transfer window opens, after he said his goodbyes to Leeds United.

Be sure to keep an eye out for further transfer developments - with Kalvin Phillips expected to depart the Etihad Stadium this winter.
