Manchester City supporters can breathe a collective sigh of relief after their side came from behind to beat an in-form Everton. Despite trailing at the break, Pep Guardiola's men clawed back the advantage to keep up the pressure in the title race.

Defeat would have left City eight points behind league leaders Liverpool; not an insurmountable gap, but one enough to evoke confidence in their rivals. The Blues return to action on Saturday when they welcome struggling Sheffield United to the Etihad.

Guardiola's men will be expected to pick up three points against the struggling Blades. Here is a round-up of of your Man City evening headlines.

Bernardo wants future Benfica return

Bernardo Silva says he envisages a return to Benfica later in his career but says the move would currently be "impossible" due to the price tag City would set. He has always held the door open for a return to his boyhood club but says he cannot see that happening while he is still under contract at City.

"I've never hidden the fact that one day I want to return [to Benfica], so of course I do," he told A Bola. "Now, we'll see over time what's possible and there's no point in talking about it all the time because people get tired of it. We'll see.

"But since I get asked this question so often, I'm not going to lie. I always say: it's a reality that I want to return to and I hope that one day it can happen. Even if I wanted to go to Benfica at the moment, it would be totally impossible because Manchester City are asking a lot of money for a transfer for me."

Pep hails Alvarez

Pep Guardiola praised Julian Alvarez for his versatility after the 3-1 comeback win against Everton. The Argentine has replaced Kevin De Bruyne in the No.10 role and Erling Haaland up front at different stages of the season.

"He can play as a striker or behind the striker," Guardiola said. "His movement is really good. Without Kevin De Bruyne this season, we decided to use him more. We have another guy not taking all of the responsibility with Erling.

"He always responds amazingly with his work rate. He works, intensive pressing, many things without the ball he's so clever. With the ball how he moves, he can be a striker or maybe behind, is not easy to control him."
