Craig Burley has given his verdict on Manchester City winger Jeremy Doku, suggesting that Jack Grealish is the reason why manager Pep Guardiola brought him to the Etihad Stadium.
The former Chelsea midfielder and ESPN pundit has said that Jeremy Doku has done well for Manchester City so far this season.
Burley has noted that Doku is a different player to England international attacker Jack Grealish.
Doku joined City from Rennes in the summer transfer window.
The PS50,000-a-week (Spotrac) Belgium international winger has made four starts and one substitute appearance in the Premier League this season.
The winger has scored one goal in those games.
Doku has also scored one goal in two substitute appearances in the UEFA Champions League for the Citizens this campaign.
Craig Burley on Manchester City winger Jeremy Doku Burley said about Doku on ESPN: "Pretty good. I mean, they needed somebody because Jack Grealish had a shortened pre-season because of all the international stuff and what happened at the end of the season.
"Then he picked up an injury. He has not been fully fit. He was excellent last year on the left-hand side.
"Doku has come in. He is a different type of player. He just wants to be more direct. He is quick and pacy. He has done okay."
My View: Jeremy Doku could be a star for Manchester City In my opinion, Jeremy Doku is one of the best young players around and has the potential to be a star for Manchester City in the coming years.
Doku is only 21 and has huge potential.
I believe that under City manager Pep Guardiola, the Belgium international winger will improve and develop his game further.
Guardiola makes players better.
Just look at the likes of Kyle Walker, Kevin De Bruyne and Phil Foden have developed a lot under the former Barcelona and Bayern Munich manager.
If Doku trains hard and takes all the instructions from Guardiola on board in training, then he could flourish at City.
