Milan place Manchester City defender on transfer radar with €20 million fee mooted

Manchester City could be subject to further transfer interest among their first-team squad with AC Milan reportedly placing Sergio Gomez on their shortlist.

The former Spanish youth international has found consistent game time difficult to come by at the Etihad Stadium since joining from RSC Anderlecht in the summer of 2022, but has since won the Treble with Pep Guardiola's side.

However, Sergio Gomez's ability to play at left-back, in the inverted full-back role, and on either of the attacking berths out wide has made him one of the most unique players in a positional sense in Manchester City's side.

Nevertheless, Gomez has largely struggled to make an impact and could be subject to a move away from the club in the coming months, should the right offer and opportunity present itself to both player and the Etihad Stadium officials.

Now, a new report has suggested that Manchester City and Sergio Gomez's officials could be subject to entertaining a proposal from Italy, should initial interest develop into a formal offer at some stage.

That is according to the information of Calciomercato.it in Italy, as translated and relayed by SempreMilan, who report that Serie A giants and Champions League outfit AC Milan now have Sergio Gomez on their transfer radar.

It is claimed that due to the Spaniard's characteristics, age, and potential, the 23-year-old Manchester City full-back could represent 'the ideal profile' for Milan, who are known to be in the market for a deputy to existing option Theo Hernandez.

In terms of price tag, the report suggests that Manchester City could be open to the sale of Sergio Gomez through an offer of between EUR18 million and EUR20 million.

This season Sergio Gomez has seen his chances of playing in the left-back position significantly reduced following the signing of Croatia international Josko Gvardiol from Bundesliga giants RB Leipzig.

The 21-year-old has started life at Manchester City in exemplary fashion, and has largely kept out second-choice left-back option Nathan Ake away from the starting line-up, even when the Dutchman is fully-fit.

Gomez, alongside Kalvin Phillips, could entertain permanent or temporary offers as soon as January with Manchester City unlikely to stand in the way of any desire from either player to leave the Etihad Stadium.
