Tottenham director could consider Manchester City star Kalvin Phillips if Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg leaves According to the Telegraph (Subscription Required), Tottenham Hotspur's new technical director Johan Lange could make a move for Manchester City's Kalvin Phillips should Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg leave the club.

Phillips is seeing next to no playing time under Pep Guardiola and that has been the theme for him since leaving Leeds United in the summer of 2022. He has just played 70 minutes of Premier League football this season.

No playing at club level can affect Gareth Southgate's selection plans ahead of the tournament in Germany even if Phillips was a regular feature in his team during the 2020 UEFA Euros. Juventus and Newcastle United are also interested.

What next for Spurs? Phillips is a very able defensive midfielder but Rodri is just one of the best players in that position in the world. It seems hard that the Englishman's situation will change at Manchester City.

It was a clear sign that he wasn't favoured under the former Celtic manager. If that continues, it makes sense for the 28-year-old to head elsewhere because, like Phillips, he is also struggling for meaningful playing time.

Lange, who is set to become our new technical director from November 1 after leaving Aston Villa, is apparently a big fan of Phillips. If the deal is feasible, then it makes sense.
