Liverpool climbed above Manchester City in the Premier League with a comfortable win at Fulham table as Pep Guardiola's side dealt with FA Cup duties on the weekend - another twist in the title race.

It came after a dismal fortnight for Jurgen Klopp's side in which they suffered a 3-0 defeat to Atalanta at Anfield in the Europa League. That was followed by a shock 1-0 defeat to Crystal Palace last weekend.

Liverpool have had their injury issues and that hasn't helped. Nevertheless, some poor performances have affected The Reds. Some rest bite on Thursday, a 1-0 win in Bergamo - but still knocked out by Atalanta.

Liverpool climb into second, behind Arsenal on goal difference With the title race in the balance and Arsenal winning on Saturday evening at Wolves - Liverpool needed to win. They did just that, Trent Alexander-Arnold opening the scoring, earning praise from Marco Silva.

Behind Arsenal, only on goal difference with five league games to play. City of course, a point behind but with six to play. It all remains in the balance, ahead of some tasty midweek fixtures in the Premier League.

Trent Alexander-Arnold says Liverpool need to win all five Arsenal face an in-form Chelsea, the small contest of a Merseyside derby and Man City have to go away to Brighton - with Arsenal and Liverpool playing first. The chance for Arsenal and Liverpool to pull away.

Plenty to play for. Having scored a stunner during the game, Alexander-Arnold was asked after the match if he felt Arsenal or Man City would drop any more points in the race to win the League title, as per BBC.

"In our minds, they won't drop points. We need to be in a position similar to last week. Kicked ourselves. If anyone drops points, we need to be in the best position we can. Five out of five wins is the aim for us."
