Manchester City will not re-join the European Super League if they lose their associated party transactions (APT) case.

That is the view of former Man City financial adviser Stefan Borson, who exclusively told Football Insider the incoming independent regular would be able to prevent top-flight clubs from leaving the Premier League and entering other competitions.

Man City have pursued legal action against the Premier League regarding the APT rules currently in place, with the club claiming the regulations are "unlawful".

Football Insider revealed on 5 June the English champions will seek to be paid "millions" in damages if their APT case is successful.

But reports have suggested the Manchester club could look to re-join the European Super League if they don't come out on top against the governing body.

Italy giants Juventus recently pulled out of the controversial competition, leaving just Spanish clubs Real Madrid and Barcelona as the only sides still committed to it.

Independent regular could block Man City from joining European Super League Borson has insisted Man City will not look to join the European Super League as he labelled it a "nonsense story".

"I think it falls into that category of somebody briefing," Borson told Football Insider's Sean Fisher.

"There is no Super League, so that's the starting point.

"Secondly, it's likely by the time all of this situation is resolved, the independent regulator will be able to prevent clubs from leaving the Premier League and entering other competitions.

"It's just a nonsense story."
