Didi Hamann has hailed one Manchester City player for how he's evolved at the club.

Since Pep Guardiola took charge of the Manchester club back in 2016, the Spaniard has used 87 players in total across the 472 games he's overlooked.

After winning their sixth Premier League title in seven years, a significant number of City players will now be featuring for their countries in the upcoming European Championship in Germany.

Ahead of the tournament, Hamann, who spent three years at the Etihad Stadium between 2006 and 2009 during his playing career, has highlighted one player in City's current squad that he believes has flourished at the club.

He said: "Stones is a doubt now. I think he would be a huge, huge miss because he's the one who has really thrived for Manchester City, brilliant player."

City signed Stones during Guardiola's first summer transfer window back in 2016, paying PS47m to sign him from fellow Premier League side Everton.

Since then, the defender has made 257 appearances for the Blues across all competitions, scoring 16 goals, supplying seven assists and winning numerous titles in the process.

Stones has shone since midfield switch Looking back over City's Treble-winning season, Stones played a vital role in the second half of the campaign as Guardiola deployed the Englishman in a hybrid role that saw him feature in a midfield position when in possession.

This switch was eventually described as revolutionary by Jamie Carragher on Monday Night Football after the City star played a vital role in midfield during the 3-1 win over Manchester United earlier this season.

Even though the most recent season saw the 30-year-old suffer from injury issues, it's easy to see why Hamann has highlighted him as being a key figure for England in the Euros based on what he's done for City in recent years.
