Report: Man United have now agreed terms to sign Man City transfer target this summer
Source:Manchester City

Manchester United have reportedly agreed terms with one of Manchester City's transfer targets.

Both Manchester sides have shown over previous years that they aren't shy when it comes to shelling out big transfer fees to sign players from fellow Premier League clubs.

For example, City spent PS100m to sign Jack Grealish from Aston Villa back in 2021, whereas the Red Devils paid an initial fee of PS55m, according to Sky Sports, to sign Mason Mount last summer.

With the latest summer transfer window now open, some interesting behind-the-scenes information has come to light regarding a current top-flight player the two Manchester clubs have had their eyes on recently.

MORE MAN CITY STORIES

Back in March, it was reported by the Daily Mail that City were monitoring the defender, who had also caught the attention of United as well as Tottenham Hotspur and Real Madrid.

Branthwaite showed his quality as a Premier League defender this season Looking back over his recent Premier League campaign with the Toffees, the 21-year-old completed the full 90 minutes in all but one of the 35 games he appeared in.

Across those matches, the Englishman racked up the second-highest total of clearances (163), interceptions (50) and blocks (51) in the Everton squad.

This showcases the defensive capabilities the youngster has and why he has a number of clubs looking to take him away from Goodison Park.

Despite that, Branthwaite admitted back in February that he struggled to contain City striker Erling Haaland during Everton's 2-0 defeat at the Etihad Stadium.

Now that it has been reported that United have agreed personal terms with the centre-back, this could see City miss out on signing Branthwaite, especially if their Manchester rivals go a step further and negotiate a deal that Everton are happy to accept.
