Bernardo Silva has named the player who is his best friend at Manchester City.

Aside from Pep Guardiola's tactical brilliance and the X-factor that world-class players like Bernardo bring to the table - the togetherness in the team seems to be a reason behind their success.

Any team that wins as many trophies as Manchester City have in recent years must have a strong bond - which brings them together in their pursuit of silverware every season.

With Jack Grealish also describing Bernardo as "the best guy" in City's changing room, he must be pally with several of the players.

As a result, the 29-year-old has had to form bonds with new signings every season at the club.

One player who joined Manchester City three years after Bernardo did was Ruben Dias, who he told ESPN FC is his best friend in the national team.

"Right now, Ruben Dias."

When asked if Dias is his best friend at Manchester City as well, he replied: "Yeah, yeah."

Bernardo joked: "He's a boring guy but I like him. No, I'm joking, he's a really nice guy."

"Now, we also have Matheus Nunes but he's just been here for half a season and with Ruben, I've been together for a long time."

Natural for Bernardo Silva and Ruben Dias to be close friends For starters, Bernardo and Dias have been playing in the national team even before the pair even started playing together at City in 2020 - winning the UEFA Nations League in 2019.

With both players being Portuguese, it is natural that they flocked together when paired in Manchester City's dressing room.

Furthermore, both Bernardo and Dias are graduates from the Benfica academy.

With as much in common with each other, the versatile attacker's answer regarding the PS62 million man comes as no surprise.

For Manchester City supporters, the hope remains that the Portuguese duo continue to succeed in tandem at the club for years to come.
