John Stones heaps praise on Euro 2024 star amid Arsenal, Man Utd and Newcastle links

Guehi has started alongside Stones in Germany, forming a solid centre-back partnership and allaying fears England's defence could be vulnerable following Harry Maguire's injury setback.

The 23-year-old only had 11 caps prior to the start of the Euros but has looked every inch an England player despite the team's general struggles.

Guehi has been linked with Arsenal, Manchester United and Newcastle United in recent weeks and is doing his hopes of a big summer move no harm with his performances in Germany.

Asked to rate Guehi's start to the Euros, Manchester City star Stones told BBC Radio 5 Live: 'So good, so good.

'For him to come in, not having felt the feelings around tournament football before or these kind of games, all kinds of different emotions that come with it that you've never experienced before. He's handled [it] so well, his performances have been great.

'I said to him when we're in this, or whoever's playing or whoever I'm playing with, I'm your right arm, you are my left. We do this together. I've got your back and he's bought into that so well.

Guehi helped England keep a clean sheet in their tournament opener against Serbia and was one of the few players to earn praise following the deflating 1-1 draw with Denmark.

Despite flattering to deceive in Germany, England sit top of Group C ahead of their final group game against Slovenia on Tuesday night.

Anthony Gordon is another Three Lions player who has been impressed with Guehi and insists he wants him to join Newcastle if he decides to leave Crystal Palace this summer.

'He's top, he's such a good player and I was glad the nation got to see him shine on that stage because he's such a lovely guy and he deserves what's coming to him.

'I thought he was unbelievable in that game [against Serbia] considering his height compared to the strikers they had on.

'He won every header, he was aggressive, intercepting loads and his main strength is composure on the ball, he's like a midfielder. So him and Stonesy at the back, it's a great partnership to control a game.'
