Spain have announced their squad for the 2024 Olympics - and it features two players currently playing at this summer's European Championships.

The men's Olympics football tournament gets underway on July 24, and finishes on August 9.

Each team is allowed to select three 'overage' players, with the rest of the players having to be aged 21 or under by the cutoff date.

France and Argentina are among the nations to have already announced their squads for the tournament. Team GB, meanwhile, do not have a team playing in either the men's or women's tournaments.

Spain's team has now been confirmed - and it features a number of familiar names.

Barcelona centre-back pairing Eric Garcia and Pau Cubarsi - who both missed out on Spain's Euro 2024 squad - are included, as well as Real Betis' Juan Miranda.

Manchester City left-back Sergio Gomez, who plays further upfield at international level, is also picked and listed as a forward.

Ferran Torres, though, is not in the team, having reportedly elected to have a full pre-season with Barcelona instead.

But the most notable selections in the team are Villarreal midfielder Alex Baena and Barcelona's Fermin Lopez, who were both named in Spain's Euros squad and will therefore perform double duty this summer.

Several Olympics coaches have spoken of the difficulty of convincing national team players at Euro 2024 to play in the men's tournament - with Thierry Henry blocked from selecting a number of players for his France squad by their respective clubs.

He told reporters in a press conference last month: "You have to know that it's not easy to find yourself in a situation where you have to go and ask a certain club for permission to be able to take their players, when you actually can't ask for anything since they are always within their right to not send since it's not a FIFA date (the Olympics tournament is run by the IOC).

"When it's already a FIFA date, it's hard. So there you go. We're trying to find ways to have certain players, and believe me it's not easy."
