If Manchester City are after a world class winger who could they target?
Source:Manchester City

A new report suggests that Manchester City are in the market for a "world-class" wide forward this summer. It is no secret that the champions do lack a dynamic option on the right wing besides Jeremy Doku in their squad. Who City could potentially target to add to their squad for the role could become a story to watch for this summer.

Pete O'Rourke has reported for footballinsider247.com that the champions failed in a late bid for Michael Olise. O'Rourke adds that Manchester City made late contact with the camp of Olise to try and tempt him to the Etihad this summer. But Olise rejected City's advances and now appears set for a move to Bayern Munich this summer. Furthermore, O'Rourke reports that City are in the market for a "world-class" wide forward who can come in and be an immediate starter.

With O'Rourke's report suggesting that City is targeting a dynamic winger this summer who could the world champions potentially land this summer? Here are several players Manchester City could target this summer.

Pedro Neto John Percy has previously reported for the Telegraph that Manchester City have an interest in Wolves winger Pedro Neto. Percy further reports that Wolves are set to demand PS60 million to sell the Portuguese international this summer.

There is no doubting Pedro Neto's quality. He had a fantastic 23/24 season for Gary O'Neill's side. Though he missed a large chunk of last season due to various injury issues when fit he added 11 assists and scored 3 goals in 24 appearances in all competitions.

With his pace and technical ability Neto could make an impact at the world champions. Though there are questions over his durability his quality is evident. He could potentially be a player that Manchester City could target to be a player to immediately start on City's right wing if they did move for Neto.

Dani Olmo Another player linked heavily with a move to Manchester City is Dani Olmo. Wayne Veysey has reported for footballinsider247.com that City had made contact with RB Leipzig over the Spanish international. But as quickly as that report had landed transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reported via his official YouTube channel that the champions haven't made a move for a player they have monitored for some time. It remains to be seen if City will eventually move for Dani Olmo.

While Olmo isn't an out-and-out winger he can play in multiple positions. As per transfermarkt.com the Spanish international played on both wings and as a number 10 for RB Leipzig last season. But he was used on the right wing by the Bundesliga side when he was available for selection.

Olmo is another player who could potentially start for Manchester City. His quality is proven and he appears ready to play for a bigger club shortly. Like Pedro Neto, there are question marks over his durability. But as a player, he has the game to make an immediate impact at the world champions. If City did move for the Spanish international they would be getting a player who could be a starting option for Pep Guardiola.

Rodrygo Another player who has been linked with a move to the world champions is Real Madrid's Brazilian international Rodrygo. Spanish publication Sport has reported that Rodrygo has been 'advised' to make the move to Manchester City this summer. Furthermore, Sport adds that the Brazilian international is concerned over his playing time at Real Madrid after their summer signing of Kylian Mbappe.

Rodrygo is a player who could arrive at the Etihad and make an immediate impact. His quality is well-known to Manchester City. Last season he contributed 17 goals and 9 assists as he was a crucial contributor to Real Madrid's La Liga and UEFA Champions League success last season.

The thought of Rodrygo playing alongside Erling Haaland, Phil Foden, Kevin De Bruyne, Jeremy Doku and co is a tantalising one. He is no doubt a player who would add something different and dynamic to the Manchester City squad. But it also appears the move that is least likely to unfold this summer when compared to the potential of City moving for Dani Olmo or Pedro Neto.

Summary Pedro Neto, Dani Olmo and Rodrygo are three players City could target this summer. Any one of them could start on the right wing for the world champions. It remains to be seen if the champions will look for a "world-class" wideman this summer. But there are options out there for Manchester City to consider.

But there is also the possibility that City have found their man for the right-wing role. Fabrizio Romano reported earlier this year that Brazilian international Savio will land at the Etihad this summer. The young Brazilian winger has shown his quality last season with Girona and in small glimpses with Brazil. It may be a case of Pep Guardiola trusting Savio to play a role for his team rather than City spending big during the transfer window.
