‘Need a little bit more’: TalkSPORT pundit reckons £54m Man City star hasn’t been that good at Euro 2024

Manchester City have seen a large number of their players in action during the 2024 European Championship.

Specifically, 14 figures from Pep Guardiola's squad were selected to represent their countries in the tournament currently taking place in Germany.

With the group stage of the competition now over, the majority of City's international stars have made it through to the knockout stage of the tournament.

Now though, before the next round of fixtures gets underway, a pundit has highlighted one particular City player he hasn't been impressed with so far.

In response, the pundit had this to say on the matter.

He said: "I am [Kevin] De Bruyne. I was just expecting because of how good he is. I need a little bit more from him."

De Bruyne has been Belgium's star player at the Euros As one of the four outfield players who have played every minute of action for Belgium across the group stage, De Bruyne, who City paid PS54m to sign back in 2015, has scored one goal for his country but is yet to deliver an assist.

Despite that, the midfielder, who Alan Shearer said earlier this month would be his dream teammate, has made more shot-creating actions (25) than any other player in the tournament.

His overall performances in the competition have earned the 33-year-old a rating of 7.6/10 from WhoScored, making him the highest-rated player in the Belgium squad and the seventh-highest across the entire tournament above the likes of Kylian Mbappe (7.56/10) and Toni Kroos (7.45/10).

In our view, De Bruyne has comfortably been Belgium's best player at the Euros so far, which makes us question why Bent has been so unimpressed with him.
