Source:Latest News

Newcastle United have the chance to bring in some new faces this summer with the transfer window now open. They ended up finishing 7th in the Premier League table last season.

First up for Eddie Howe's side is a home clash against newly promoted Southampton on 17th August. In the meantime, here is a look at some of the latest news and rumours coming out of the club...

Defender latestNewcastle have been linked with a swoop for Juventus defender Federico Gatti this summer. According to a report by Italian news outlet Gazette Dello Sport, they have 'targeted' a move for him but are yet to make an offer.

He could be seen by the North East outfit as someone to add more competition and depth to their defensive department. However, they may need to act fast if they are to lure the PS15million-rated man (via Transfermarkt) to the North East as it appears that he has other interest in him as well.

As per TuttoJuve, fellow top flight side Everton are also believed to be in the frame for his signature. The Toffees are after some new faces as Sean Dyche aims to strengthen his ranks. Gatti, who is 26-years-old, has been with Juventus since joining them back in 2022 and has made 63 appearances in all competitions for the Serie A giants so far, chipping in with six goals from the back.

The Italy international has risen up from the Eccellenza, which is the fifth tier, all the way to the top flight in Italy via spells at Pavarolo, Verbania, Pro Patria and Frosinone. Juve may have a decision to make regarding his long-term future though with both Newcastle and Everton now seemingly eyeing a potential swoop to try and bring him to England.

Winger updateNewcastle have enquired about the availability of Wolves winger Pedro Neto ahead of the next campaign, as per HITC Sport. He is currently away at Euro 2024 in Germany with the Portugal national team and played for Roberto Martinez's side in their recent group stage loss to Georgia.

In this latest update regarding the player's situation, GiveMeSport claim Manchester City hold an 'interest' in him as Pep Guardiola aims to freshen up his attacking department. The champions are also believed to be keeping tabs on the likes of Eberechi Eze, Jamal Musiala and Joshua Kimmich as they look to retain their title once again.

Neto has since been a key player for the Midlands outfit over the past five years and has scored 14 goals in 135 games in all competitions. His future is up in the air right now though amid attention from elsewhere and City are the latest team to be mentioned as a suitor.
