Pep: Kev Not Leaving Manchester City

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has spoken out over the rumours that midfield star Kevin de Bruyne could move to Saudi Arabia this summer. Reports have circulated since the end of the season that the Belgian could be on his way to the Middle East, with City happy to cash in on the star who has one year of his contract remaining.

The City talisman stated before the Euros that anything was on the table and didn't rule out a move to the Saudi Pro League, which would potentially be his last before retirement.

However, the City boss has now moved to say that de Bruyne isn't going anywhere this summer. Speaking ahead of City's first pre-season game of their American tour against Celtic, Guardiola told reporters that "Kevin isn't leaving," when asked directly about de Bruyne's future at the Etihad Stadium.

"If someone leaves, we are going to talk about that and, of course, until the last day [of the transfer window] we have chances," he said.

"I don't rule out new players as an option, but I think there is an 85, 90, 95% chance we will have the same squad.

"I feel comfortable, because the quality of human beings we have in the squad is difficult to be replaced, and the quality is there. But we'll see.

"I don't know in the last moment if someone comes for some players and they leave, we're going to decide."

It seems for now at least, de Bruyne will be seeing out the final year of his contract in Manchester.

City Set For Pre-Season The Blues kick off their pre-season tour with a match against Scottish champions Celtic in North Carolina, before moving north to face AC Milan in New York's Yankee Stadium on Saturday. from there, it's south to Florida and a mouth-watering match with Ilkay Gundogan's Barcelona in Orlando, before finishing their tour in Ohio against Chelsea, their opponents on the opening weekend.

A week later, the Blues face Manchester United at Wembley in the traditional season curtain raiser, the Community Shield. Guardiola's side will be looking for revenge against the Stretford Rangers for their FA Cup Final defeat in May, then it's down to business as the Blues aim for a fifth successive Premier League title.
