Many of the players in Manchester City's squad know all about playing at international level.

In fact, City had more players (14) from their squad chose to participate in the recent 2024 European Championship than any other side in the Premier League.

With those players still on holiday, numerous other big-name figures and talented youngsters are currently part of the Pep Guardiola's ranks in the club's preseason tour of America.

Now though, a pundit has shared his astonishment at one thing has happened, or more specifically, didn't happen, to one of the most notable players in the current City squad.

He said: "He is a good player. For me, I can't believe England never took him.

"Just take this for example. You are 1-0 down against Slovakia. Put Jack Grealish on, and I guarantee you he gets three free kicks out left and you score from a set piece. He carries the ball, he holds the ball, he gets fouls.

"How many games would [Kobbie] Mainoo have played for Manchester City last season? How many games would Wharton have played for Man City? How many games would Anthony Gordon have played for Manchester City last season?"

Grealish could have been an asset for England in the Euros Having only scored three goals and delivered one assist in the 20 Premier League games he appeared in last season, 10 of which he started, this highlights why the now former England manager Gareth Southgate didn't pick Grealish to be in the squad for the recent tournament.

However, in addition to what Saunders said, the fact that the PS300k-a-week attacker ended the previous Premier League campaign with the joint-fourth-highest rate of shot-creating actions per 90 minutes (4.82) in the City squad shows how much of a useful creative asset he could have been for the Three Lions.
