Dimitar Berbatov has issued an ominous warning to his former club ahead of Sunday's Manchester derby.

Following a troubled start to the season in both the Premier League and Champions League, Manchester United scraped to a much-needed win against Copenhagen in midweek, with Andre Onana saving a late penalty. However, the 1-0 win failed to paper over the cracks in Erik ten Hag's side, according to former United forward Dimitar Berbatov, who knows any frailty will be ruthlessly exposed by Pep Guardiola's Treble winners.

The Bulgarian told Betfair: "Let's not be blinded by the three points and let's not pretend we didn't see some cracks in the team. Copenhagen were easily able to create goal-scoring opportunities. They didn't score due to Onana and the inexperience of the Copenhagen players. That's why it was 0-0 for most of the game.

"This lack of communication, positioning, reading of the game, it needs to be addressed. Yes, it was 1-0 and three points, but I hope everybody will pay attention to the mistakes that were made in the game and correct them immediately."

Berbatov, who spent four years at Old Trafford, winning the Premier League and Championships, fears his former club will "suffer" if they don't improve on their midweek display.
