Glenn Murray has said that Jeremy Doku has been a breath of fresh air for Manchester City.

The Manchester club signed the winger during the previous summer transfer window in a deal worth PS55m and have since gone on to see him make 10 appearances across all competitions.

With the 21-year-old in with a chance of featuring in his first Manchester derby tomorrow, one pundit and former Premier League player has been sharing his thoughts on the Belgian and what he has produced on the pitch so far for Pep Guardiola's side.

He said: "Now he's got someone very different playing on the left. Well, certainly different to Jack Grealish who keeps the ball, he buys free kicks but this guy is so direct, he's exactly what City need at certain points, especially when teams sit in and say 'come and beat us,' well this guy will.

"He'll run at people, he's a ball carrier, he asks questions of the opposition and then when he does get to that by line, more often than not when he cuts it back he finds a City shirt and I think he's a breath of fresh air, to be honest."

Across his 10 appearances for the Citizens, Doku has scored two goals and delivered two assists, highlighting how much of a useful attacking figure he has already made himself to be for the team.

With just six Premier League appearances under his belt, the winger has racked up more progressive carries (49), carries into the penalty area (28) and successful take-ons (20) than any other City player, which backs up Murray's point about him being direct in attacking areas.

His overall performances in the league have earned the summer recruit a strong season rating of 7.5/10 from WhoScored, making him the second-highest-rated player in the City squad alongside Rodri.

Taking all of that into account, it's hard to disagree with Murray about how much of an impact Doku has had in City's side despite only being a fairly new addition to the squad.
