HomeExclusives Sun 11 August 2024 11:00, UKManchester City will make around PS45million of profit on the big-money sale of forward Julian Alvarez to Atletico Madrid.

That is the view of former Man City financial adviser Stefan Borson, who exclusively told Football Insider it's a "knockout" deal for the Premier League champions after sanctioning the Argentina international's exit.

Atletico agreed an PS81.

5million deal for Alvarez on 6 August, with the fee made up of an initial PS64.

4million payment and up to PS17.

1million in potential add-ons.

The 24-year-old is expected to fly to Madrid on Sunday and complete his medical with the La Liga giants on Monday.

Alvarez has scored 36 goals and laid on 18 assists in 103 appearances for Man City since making the PS14million move from River Plate in January 2022.

Man City to make "very significant" profit on Julian Alvarez deal Borson revealed Pep Guardiola's side will now make a "very significant" profit on the forward as he closes in on a move to the Spanish capital.

MORE INSIDER STORIES"It's a knockout deal in terms of the maximum that could be paid," Borson told Football Insider.

"The way it will be accounted for in the profits is you would look at the initial payments.

"But one thing that a lot of people miss is just the amount of costs that goes into both sides of the transaction.

It was reported that they bought him for PS14million.

"That won't be the amount he will be on the books for, he will be on the books for a bit more than that because you have got agent fees, which are usually about 20 per cent of the fee by the time you get to the books.

"But in a case where a player has come out of South America relatively cheap, it can be more.

I suspect the price that he started with on the books at City was nearer PS20million.

"When he leaves, you take off the amortisation that's already been accounted for over the last two-and-a-half years.

"City have probably made somewhere in the order of PS40-45million profit on the books, so it's very significant.

"In other news, the real reason for Julian Alvarez's big-money Man City exit revealed.
