Manchester City romped to a 3-0 win over Manchester United at Old Trafford on Sunday, and had to do so without Manuel Akanji.

The Switzerland international watched the derby day demolition from the sidelines after picking up a red card in the 2-1 victory against Brighton.

Every Manchester City player is surely buzzing after that memorable 3-0 win on Sunday, although Manuel Akanji may be feeling a little bit worried...

What's the story? Well, Manchester City have actually looked human at times this season, most notably in the 2-1 defeat to Wolves at Molineux and the 1-0 Carabao Cup Third Round loss to Newcastle.

Akanji - who was allowed to play against BSC Young Boys on Wednesday due to UEFA rules - started both of those games.

However - at Old Trafford on Sunday - Manchester City were back to their formidable best, playing with the sort of swagger which sealed last season's historic treble success.

Now, that is not to say Akanji has been holding Manchester City back in any way - football is a team game, and most performed poorly in those aforementioned defeats.

The 28-year-old has started seven of Manchester City's ten Premier League outings so far this season, so Guardiola clearly admires him, although as aforesaid, we really cannot see the Spaniard changing anything from Sunday's near perfect 3-0 win at Old Trafford going forwards.
