Marc Cucurella has responded following the fallout involving the Chelsea left-back and Erling Haaland on the opening day of the season.

Chelsea came into the first Premier League game of the season spending a heck of a lot of money under new manager Enzo Maresca, who was appointed Blues boss from Leicester City.

The Blues signed Tosin Adarabioyo, Pedro Neto, Marc Guiu, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall amongst others and they came into the opening game against Premier League champions with confidence.

However, Pep Guardiola's City side looked very smooth and picked up a comfortable 2-0 victory at Stamford Bridge to kick off their Premier League title defence.

The fallout between Cucurella and Haaland began during the summer with the Spanish left-back celebrating the Euro 2024 trophy and bringing up the Norwegian forward in the process.

The Chelsea man was pictured signing a song dedicated to him but with changed lyrics that claimed Haaland 'better tremble because Cucurella is coming'.

That was, perhaps unsurprisingly, picked up on and became a talking point when Haaland and Cucurella came up against each other when Chelsea hosted City on the opening day of the Premier League season.

"There was a lot of talk about that in England too and these are things that happen," he told EFE.

Chelsea in for important season, Marc Cucurella will be needed The Blues have made a lorry load of signings this summer but the full-back areas remain an area of weakness for Chelsea.

With Cucurella remaining at the club, the Spaniard will still offer something that Ben Chilwell cannot, and that is reliability.

HITC has reported that Chelsea are trying to get Chilwell a move so with the transfer window closed, Cucurella will be vital.
