Manchester City's long-awaited hearing into alleged breaches of the Premier League's financial regulations will begin on Monday.

Six years after the investigation first began, City are facing 115 charges after being referred to an independent commission in February following a four-year investigation.

It is alleged the club breached its financial regulations between 2009 and 2018.

An independent panel will conduct the hearing that is expected to last up to 10 weeks, with a verdict of City's fate to be revealed in early 2025.

The Premier League alleged City breached rules requiring the club to provide "accurate financial information that gives a true and fair view of the club's financial position."

This information covers revenue, including sponsorship agreements and operational costs.

However, the club has strongly denied any wrongdoing, stating its case is supported by a "comprehensive body of irrefutable evidence."

The investigation was first prompted by an article published in German newspaper Der Spiegel whose allegations have been deemed "entirely false" by the club.

City alleges the information used in the original publication were acquired from "illegal hacking and out of context publication of City emails."

Since their 2008 takeover by the Abu Dhabi United Group, City have won 10 league titles and a Champions League title.

Of the 115 charges, 35 relate to failure to cooperate with the Premier League's investigation between December 2018 and February 2023.

"It starts soon and hopefully finishes soon," City manager Pep Guardiola told reporters on Friday.

"I am looking forward to the decision."

The coach denied the suggestions that the matter has been a distraction to his team's preparations.

"I don't talk about it," he said.

"We are not lawyers. What is going to happen is with the independent panel and we will accept the sentence.

"I know there will be more rumours about the sentences that come up and we're going to see.

"But I've said everyone is innocent until guilt is proven, so we will see."

The club previously defended their position in one case to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), who overturned a two-year ban from the Champions League by UEFA in 2020.

The fresh hearing set for this case cannot go to the CAS.

If found guilty, City faces a significant point deduction and possible expulsion from the Premier League.

A guilty verdict could mark the conclusion of Guardiola's management and will raise doubts over the future of the side's star players including striker Erling Haarland.
